In todays economy, taking a sabbatical may sound radical but it can be a release for the soul. Stress levels are up which means that as the weather turns colder more visits to the doctors office. Who wants to be sick? Why not take a sabbatical of whatever length you deem is necessary for your health and sanity. I've interviewed many people who have taken sabbaticals and they've all told me that the break was worth it to their peace of mind and finding that little part of their soul they felt was missing.
3 Reasons for taking a sabbatical
A sabbatical can help with increasing your creativity. Creativity does not exist in an exhausted mind. Creativity is like a waterfall it must be allowed to flow naturally. If you damn the waterfall in any way i.e. stress it can cause our creativity to dry up which is why it is important to get out of our rut and try new things, scary things like adrenaline sports.
A sabbatical can help with your inability to try new things and conquer your fears. Too many times we see ourselves as these little limited, colorless, human beings that we have invented because we took this personality quiz or our parents or friends told us that we are this way or that way. Well, I have news for you, you never know what you can do until you are placed in a position where you are tested. It's like separating the shaft from the wheat and chances are if you are reading this you are the wheat and not the shaft. Life is not for the cowardly; it is for champions.
A sabbatical can help with your inability to learn to enjoy life. Yes, I am a big believer in loving, laughing and giving to others. When are batteries are recharged we are able to give to others and we are able to laugh and be light of spirit. Taking time to stop and smell the roses or sky dive over the roses is medicine. Be a connoisseur, tiger!
